In Ireland, life expectancy for the average adult is 79.3 years for men, and 83.5 years for women.

While people are living longer, chronic health problems like heart disease, cancer, and lung disease are among the leading causes of death, according to the Department of Health report Health in Ireland, Key Trends 2016.

But concerns about the health of the country don’t stop there. Lifestyle factors such as smoking, drinking, levels of physical activity and obesity continue to be issues which have the potential to jeopardise many of the health gains achieved in recent years.

There’s room for improvement. That’s why the Healthy Ireland framework was created and with strategic partnerships with organisations like Fusion HR, tools and programmes are available to help people and organisations improve physical and mental health and wellbeing.

Fusion HR, a corporate services provider headquartered at NexusUCD, the Industry Partnership Centre at University College Dublin, today announced the launch of an updated version of Health House.

Health House is an interactive personal health risk assessment portal designed to support businesses implementing a Healthy Ireland framework within their organisations.

"The launch of our new version of Health House, is in keeping with the Irish Government's A Healthy Weight for Ireland – Obesity Policy and Action Plan 2016-2025 and the Healthy Ireland framework,” says Conor Hoey, Chief Sales Officer, Fusion HR.

"We've partnered with Healthy Ireland to help communities, such as the workplace, to develop initiatives that will improve our nation’s health."

The new release of Health House, which incorporates the well-established and research-based health risk assessment algorithm developed by Wellsource, Inc., is the first health portal to include education, awareness and recommendations specific for an Irish workforce and population.

The portal connects healthy lifestyle choices to healthy outcomes and empowers individuals to be at their best physically, mentally, emotionally and professionally.

The portal provides a personal report which identifies an individual’s risk across seven key health areas - Heart, Cancer, Diabetes, Obesity, Fitness, Nutrition and Mental Health. This enables employees to identify their personal health risks and initiate actions necessary to reduce or eliminate these risks, and reduce avoidable costs, to themselves and their employers.

In addition Health House enables businesses to establish a baseline for their population, develop programmes specific to their health risks in conjunction with employees' enthusiasm to change, and then measure the effectiveness of these programmes with hard data metrics.

“The real power of Health House is in its flexibility to configure its service for the largest organisations and health providers down to the smallest firms,” says Hoey.

“From working with existing providers to developing brand new programmes, we are confident that Health House will add significant value to each organisation and ultimately to Irish society at large.”

Fusion HR partnered with Wellsource, Inc., four years ago to provide wellness-based services in Ireland. The partnership has been successful in helping both organisations promote health, prevent disease, improve productivity and help organisations and individuals achieve better health outcomes.

“Fusion HR has demonstrated visionary leadership in the wellness industry to meet the needs of Ireland’s population,” says Chris McReynolds, CEO, Wellsource.

“Incorporating our latest health risk assessment and reporting tools into Health House, Fusion HR will continue to make a significant impact on the health of Ireland’s workforce with an engaging set of products and services. We are delighted to continue our partnership with Fusion HR in support of Healthy Ireland.”
